2000 TanDemo and BentEvent Recap Our 8th annual event is history. Hundreds of funseekers came to see,
hear, taste, and ride, ride, ride. Sparky and Smiley unicycled, Juggled, and decorated kids of all ages with balloon
art. Dave Black and the 5-piece 'Busy Signal' Jazz ensemble performed at poolside. Dave's father Larry mistakenly intro'd them as 'Wrong Number', a name they may use. Dr Stan Manstoff (webmountainbike.com), after sitting in on Drums, changed hats , and swapped the sticks for brushes and decorated dozens of young faces with bike and other fine art. The outdoor pavilion became a 'taste of the town' with a cornucopia of delights representing a wide variety of international delights. Otis Spukmaier Cookie company sent their top baker, an avid cyclist , with his oven and secret recipe. The cookieholic cyclists ran him out of dough after consuming a couple hundred large cookies.
Weatherwise, a perfect day to try out the nearly one hundred tandem and
recumbent bikes and trikes transported to the rural estate for the express purpose of education and entertainment. Some of the unusual bikes: A 26lb Carbon fiber tandem just back from winning a medal in the national championships
Recumbents, tandems, and specialty bikes were taken on short laps around the 'mini-track', the home's 80 meter circular driveway, then out in the rural countryside if a longer experience was in order. Local Tandem clubs from Baltimore and Washington hosted rides from 8 to 35 miles in the opening hours of the event, and the demos started while they were gone and continued throughout the day. We want to offer our sincerest thanks for helping us bring so much joy
and insight to the participants. We have already received a kind note of thanks and a large electronic album of pictures from Craig Attig. Thanks very much, we have included a link to the rest of Craig Attig's images from the event here, Craig Attig's Tandemo and BentEvent Photo Page The 2000 TanDemo and BentEvent Staff TanDemo and BentEvent 2000 photos (c) 2000 Craig Attig.
