recently received a makeover that cyclists will love. The section in front of our Mt Airy shop, and stretching from Md 27 East to the Howard county line is a model road for cycling.

This road section is also part of the 'Oakland-to-Ocean' route on the Maryland Bike Route map,
and cross-country cyclists frequently pass along this same piece of history that carried stagecoaches and horseback travelers before cyclists spun their own spokes.

A concerned group of highway officials, State Highway workers, and the Gray Paving Company have created a haven. The shoulders are the straightest, smoothest, and and widest in the world. wider than the vehicular travel lanes, a delightful 13'4" in front of our shop.
This makes test riding and travel by bicycle very friendly and safe.

Who knows, you might even see one of the authentic 1880's bike that helped the country get better roads before the automobile came along.

We have plans for a National Road Transportation Museum that will house mostly bicycles but also include a few motorcycles, autos, and horse-related vehicles.

It's well on its way with bicycles from the 1860's to the current age.
